Rooted - Day Twenty-Eight

Rooted

“In the beginning
was the Word (Jesus)
and the Word (Jesus)
was with God -
and the Word (Jesus)
was God…”
John 1

Sometimes it’s important
to go back to beginnings…
and remember…

GOD

Existing outside of time
Existing outside of culture
Existing outside of politics
Existing outside of a religion

GOD

Creator of all things -
fashioning man in His own image…
to reflect His heart and nature

GOD

Author of natural laws -
weaving an intricate world…
full of beauty and wonder

GOD

Lover of mankind -
desiring to be close…
near and comforting

GOD

Savior of humanity -
forgiving of all our sin…
that we might live free

GOD

I cannot separate Him
from my everyday…
I see Him as the sun rises
and again when it sets.

I wish I remembered Him
so much more in between -
the rising and the setting…

I think I’d worry so much less and
*find joy a bit more easily
*not lose hope so quickly
*spill over with laughter more naturally
*rest a little more easily

I see His fingerprints
all around me…

In the garden
In my friendships
In unexplainable miracles
In my children
In my marriage
In my community
In this little world we call “home” for now…

Tonight I am thoroughly exhausted from juggling a million balls in the air… (some of that is self-imposed at the sheer multitude of plants I take under my wing from various places…)

Today, someone called me
the “plant orphan mom…”
Grrrr…

It doesn’t matter how hard I try -
plants end up on my doorstep…
Lots.

So I nurture them
as best I can…
and try to learn
along the way -

Secrets from beginnings
Fingerprints from Heaven…
