Day Seven

April 7

An early morning flight out of Leeds landed us in Geneva just about noon - local time.

After situating ourselves in a hotel near the airport, we set off to explore downtown and the old city area.

Just like so many European cities, stunning architecture and rich history can be found at every turn.

We struggled a bit to find the Musée International de la Réforme which is currently closed for remodeling.

During the Reformation, Geneva was the center for Calvinism. Much of our rich Protestant faith stems from the fifteenth century work of men like John Calvin and John Knox.

While cities, like Geneva, are stunningly beautiful, they do have way of thoroughly exhausting one in a different sort of way.

We are situated just on the border of France and Switzerland. Tomorrow, God willing, we are headed into the French countryside to the town of Annecy.

It is strange not to celebrate Good Friday services with our family at home this evening.

It is fitting and proper to pause and freshly consider (again) the gift of the Cross tonight. To remember His sacrifice on our behalf.

So many of us have walked the lonely road of suffering and despair, hopelessness and defeat…

Pain, etching itself deeply into the recesses of our hearts - leaving behind emptiness and despair.

And the Cross of Christ stands to bear that pain… to take ALL our suffering and work it out for good.

The work - IT IS FINISHED!

And love and mercy flow,
running down His side…

The blood of Christ
Purifying all our iniquities.

It was for love -
He came.
To give us life
When we were dead.

For me.
For you.
