Silver Sneakers

Silver Sneakers

Yesterday, I received an email for my mom from the Silver Sneakers program - promoting some upcoming fitness opportunities for their members.

During the last year of my mom’s life, she was unable to put on a pair of shoes - never mind get out to any fitness program.

Instead, she wore her grandkids’ SkyZone trampoline socks. (And she certainly made a statement with those beauties!)

Daily, they reminded her of her most valued treasures - family.

She stocked up piles of memories watching them live life fully!

The socks didn’t define her,
neither did any fitness program.

And because her name was written
in the Book of Life -
she was made new.

Not physically -
Spiritually.

No amount of perseverance or achieving
could make her new.

That only comes from a heart bowed low in understanding of a God who whispers our name…

And grace.

Deep grace for every wrong:
past, present, and future.

Today, sweet Nanny dances with something more than silver sneakers… Theologically - I can’t say what she has on those perfected feet just now - but there is no way she is sitting still!

And I do know this -

She is well.
And whole.
In every way… and
She understands fully.
Everything.

Even what we cannot.

For those of us this side of Heaven… do not be discouraged!

This world …

This world with all its pain and brokenness,
war and politics,
fear and wondering…
IS NOT OUR FINAL HOME!

Be encouraged, today,
children of the LIVING God…

They never define us - (unless we let them!)

They just help us pass through.
