Our Beloved’s Obituary

Elizabeth Ann “Nanny” (Hines) Charters, 77, of Lower Macungie Township, passed away October 14, 2022, in her home, surrounded by her family. Born September 28, 1945, in Germantown, Philadelphia County, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Gerard Patrick and Mary Eileen (Callahan) Hines.

She was a long-time volunteer at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Center and a member of Life Church, Macungie.

Elizabeth was known and beloved to all as “Nanny.”

No matter position or title, age or status… she fully extended her heart to welcome, love, comfort, and honor every human she encountered. She lived every day present and offered herself fully.

Nanny lived to serve and bring others joy. She served in many volunteer capacities throughout her lifetime. Nanny’s home was her greatest place of ministry. She widely opened her door to all. Even as she weakened physically, her desire to serve others remained focused and secure. Her open door of ministry stood as a strong beacon of light to welcome the broken, hurting, downtrodden and forgotten. Her home was often affectionately called, “Nanny Island.”

Nanny’s greatest desire was that all who came in contact with her - would see the Light of Jesus Christ radiating through her - in any and all circumstances. We believe she accomplished that desire through the grace and mercy of God our Father and humbly received her crown of honor for a life well lived.

We are the recipients of her life of sacrifice and honor.

We are the recipients of her godliness and blessing.
From generation to generation - we are blessed because of her.
